This website was conceived and registered by Aldo Vezzoni on 23 March 2007 as an open platform for the advancement and promotion of veterinary orthopaedics.
Since 2008, the site has been financially supported and used by ESVOT, with free access for ESVOT members and anyone who registers.
The website’s objectives are to promote online professional development and the exchange of information within the veterinary orthopaedic community, as well as to encourage membership of ESVOT and participation in its educational activities.
A weekly newsletter is sent to all registered users of the site, featuring abstracts of articles published in English-language international journals as they appear.
The website’s content includes:
- Abstracts: abstracts concerning veterinary orthopaedics and traumatology published in different journals, collected from the web (journal sites, Congress Proceedings, PubMed, etc.), since the 1st of April 2008, encoded using the keywords of the various papers so that they can be easily searched by topic.
- Interviews: interviews of international Authors discussing new treatments, new implants & instruments, etc.
- Round tables: controversial topics will be presented by different invited Authors.
- Meetings & Courses: an updated list of Meetings and Courses will be published, with links to each organising body. Special emphasis will be dedicated to all the national veterinary orthopaedic societies and groups in Europe.
- Proceedings: PDF files of the ESVOT and VOS Proceedings are available to download for ESVOT members.
- They made the difference: a memorial archive of the various figures who have contributed to the advancement of veterinary orthopaedics and who are no longer with us. So that their legacy may serve as an inspiration to future generations, who will thus have a historical memory of the evolution of veterinary orthopaedics.
- Books: all new books in veterinary orthopaedics will be announced with the front page picture, a short presentation provided by the publisher and the link to the publisher.
- Comparative orthopaedics: news and Meetings in human orthopaedics, selected from the human medical websites.
- Advertisements: a section where Companies can advertise new implants/instruments, special courses, with links to their websites. Food and drug Companies are invited too.
- Classified Marketplace: employment, equipment for sale, medical and surgical suppliers links.
The website production:
- The Website creation, structure and update is done by the professional web-company, Studiolo, Cremona, Italy. Studiolo publish the material submitted by the editor.
- The weekly update of the new abstracts was done by dr Brian Trumpatori and dr Raphael Labens from 2008 to 2012; by dr. Maria Grazia Monzeglio from 2012 to 2018 and by dr. Enrico Febbo since 2018 to the present.
