Take note: ESVOT Courses for 2011 will be organised at the Veterinary School of Lyon, France, October 20-22; the program will include:
Small Animal
TPLO wet lab, October 20-21, supported by Synthes and Chair by Mike Kowaleski. The most complete TPLO Course with practical exercise on cadavers, following the same program of the original Slocum’s Course, updated with all the most recent studies.
Locking Systems for internal fixation dry lab, October 20-21, Chair Alessandro Piras. Most of the available systems will be presented and discussed: Synthes LCP, Kyon ALPS, Orthomed SOP, Traumavet Fixin, NGD, Securos and Biomedtrix I-Lock). It will be a unique opportunity to see, test and compare most of the available systems for modern internal fixation in one time.
TTA dry lab, October 20, supported by Kyon, Chair Randy Boudrieau. A full comprehensive course on the original TTA technique, with exercises on film planning and execution on plastic bones.
Novel extracapsular stabilization techniques, wet & dry lab, October 21, supported by Arthrex, Chair Brian Beale and Don Hulse. The most recent techniques on ligament replacement using novel suture material and bone anchors will be discussed and presented and tested on cadavers and on plastic bones.
Seminar on patellar luxation, October 22, Chair Dominique Griffon. A full day dedicated to in-depth discussion with a rich Faculty of all the aspects of patellar luxation, with 24 short and focused presentation covering the modern diagnostic approaches of the underlying malalignment and all the actual surgical techniques.
Large Animal
Equine basic arthroscopy course, wet lab, one day, October 20. The course is dedicated to equine surgeons and surgery residents. After an overview on equine basic arthroscopic principles & instrumentation, the courses will focus (seminars and wetlab) on arthroscopy of the equine hock, fetlock and carpus.
Equine lameness workshop, one day, October 21. Dedicated to equine practitioners, the course will focus on the clinical exam of the lame horse. Indication when to do what, local nerve block, intra synovial block will be discussed. Practical exercises in wet lab and on live horse will be offered.
Equine locating lameness course, one day, October 22. This course is dedicated for equine practitioners and residents in equine surgery. General principles of locomotion analysis and what are the role of these analyses in locating lameness or in performance evaluation will be addressed. Practical demonstration and wet laboratory on lameness locator, pressure plate hoof and saddle and high speed video will be organized.
